Non Electric Heaters

Non Electric Heaters are not the preferred choice as an indoor heating device. For the bed rooms, the living areas and other enclosed rooms in the house, electric space heaters are the first choice. Non electric heaters mostly belong outdoors. This is because non electric heaters either use kerosene, liquid propane, or even natural gas which reduces the air quality in the house. Besides that, burning kerosene and propane produces carbon monoxide which is detrimental to our health and well being. Non electrical heaters are usually found outside on decks and patios.

Kerosene heaters

Paraffin heaters are the secondary name for kerosene heaters. This type of heater is generally used to generate supplementary hear. Some people keep a kerosene heater stored as they come in handy in case of a black out. Besides that, they are portable because they do not need to be connected to a power source so you can place them almost anywhere you desire. Kerosene heaters are very effective large room heaters due to their double heating capacity.  Another advantage of kerosene heaters is that you can store kerosene by the barrels because they don’t have an expiry date.

Natural Gas heater

Natural Gas Heaters also go by the name of LPG heaters.  Natural gas heaters are very energy efficient. This is because they are able to up the temperature fairly quickly while only utilizing a small amount of fuel. It is also more environmentally friendly as opposed to kerosene or other fuels because it produces less carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. An additional bonus for using natural gas heaters is that the cost of gas is not that expensive. However, you need to ensure that it is constantly connected to a gas supply line in order for it to function. In the market today, there are many types of natural gas heaters to choose from. You would be able to find those with a base and those that can be mounted on a wall.

Wood burning space heater

For those who are looking to cut down on gasoline and electricity expenses, wood burning heaters are the way to go. Wood heaters are the oldest type of heater found in the world and heats up an area quite efficiently. However, when installing a wood burning heater you would also need to install a chimney system. Wood burning heaters are best used for the patio as it adds to the aesthetics and creates the ambiance.

The main disadvantage of all these non electric heaters is the fact that it is harmful to the health of pets and pet owners alike. Besides that, they are harder to maintain as you would need to refill the kerosene and probably clean out the ashes in the wood burning space. On top of that, since these non electric heaters are used outdoors, there are most likely to corrode, fade in color, and collect dust. The true benefit of non electric heaters is its costs efficiency and independent of electricity. Therefore, you would never have to worry when a power cut occurs.
