Large Room Electric Heaters
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, an electric space heater is significantly more efficient in providing heat to a large room as opposed to a gas furnace. The question for many of us out there is how to select an electric heater that provides sufficient heat to a large area while being eco-friendly.
Based on consumer researches conducted over the years, the best large room electric heaters include the basic convection heater, the fan forced convection, the radiant heater, and the oil filled heater.
Convection Heater
Electric heaters using the convection method are quiet and economical and most would agree that this type of heater would make one of the best large room electric heaters. Although it takes a while for the convection heater to get the temperature up, once it reaches a certain heat level it is able to maintain that heat rather efficiently.
When browsing for a convection heater, it is vital that the heater possess all the safety features to ensure that you and your family are protected. For example, a good convection heater would have automatic shut off protection. In addition to that, it should be stable to avoid any tip-over. Besides that, a reliable heater should have temperature control features for you to adjust the heat to a comfortable level.
Fan Forced Convection Heater
Another type of large room electric heaters is the Fan Forced Convection Heating. Because of the fan that can very well promote heat in a large room, it also produces a whirring sound which makes it noisier than a normal convection heater. With the built in fan, heat travels faster to warm bigger rooms. For a small heater which only uses 120 volts, it can generate a good amount of heat for a large room. Fan forced heaters costs around $40 more than a regular convection heater which sells about $60
Radiant Heater
For the quickest means to heat a large room, no electric heater can complete with the radiant space heaters. Just like its name, the radiant heater oozes warm heat like the sun. However, this type of heaters does well in heating objects rather than the air. Therefore, you can rest assure that your eggnog and hot chocolate will remain nice and warm even after being left in the room for an hour.
If the large room has poor insulation or none at all, the radiant heater is the best choice. The radiant heater works so effectively in delivering heat that you would need to place it in a corner so that the objects in the room to not get too hot. Such an effective large room electric heater only costs around $60 and can be easily obtained at any appliance store.
Oil Filled Heater
Oil filled heaters are one of the least common electrical heater in the market. They are very economical heaters because they use electricity only to heat oil within. After that, the room is kept warm with the internal oil that has been heated. The only disadvantage of oil fill heaters as a large room electric heater is that its exterior gets hot as well. An oil filled heater usually costs between $70 and $80 depending on the brand. The price is paid is relatively cheap compared the money you save on energy your energy bill.
