- Natural convection heaters - Among the various types of electric heaters available in the market, natural convection heaters are considered the safest of all. This is because despite the heating going on, the surface of the heaters will not get too warm. Hence, these safe electric heaters are neither hot enough to burn and scald people, nor able to start flammable household materials on fire. Chances of overheating due to malfunctioning are also very low, as they are will not get too hot, these safe electric heaters do not incorporate a fan to keep its components cool. Hence, it is deemed the safest heater as it can warm an area well, but not warm enough to cause any danger.
- Slim heaters – It is to common knowledge that if electrical appliances will pose a hazard if they are immersed in water for any reason. That why most heaters are very sensitive to water. However, some slim heater models are safe electric heaters that will not cause danger despite being immersed in water. This is because they have an automatic shut off switch within their bodies, which will initiate a shut down once it detects that the heater has been immersed in water. If the appliance happens to tilt over, it will also shut off automatically.
- Eco heaters – Going green is the latest trend, which explains why eco heaters are so well appraised among the modern generation. Despite being a friendly to the environment and a good heater for your bedroom or study, it is also has a lot of safety features. There is no location for dust to collect in eco heaters; hence the likelihood of overheating is almost zero. Any other options?
Apart from purchasing the safe electric heaters recommended above, you can also purchase a safer electric heater by not choosing one that has a high wattage. This is because too high a power may cause a strain on your home’s wiring, which is a dangerous thing. Instead, choose one with a lower wattage (e.g. 1200 – 1300) rather than 1500, so that there is space to power other appliances that might be plugged into the same circuit. You can also opt for a multiple wattage model instead of one with high power, as it can be set at 750 or 1000 watts.
