Solar electric heaters
In the United States, to use electric heaters to warm homes and offices during the cold season is the norm. However, when resources like fossil fuels and coal that generates electricity are depleting over time, a new alternative source of energy to power heaters is introduced into the electric heater market. Solar electric heaters work as well as normal electric heaters, yet solar energy is more sustainable too.
How do they work?
Just as its name suggests, a solar electric heater is capable of converting energy from the sun to electrical energy, powering the heater to produce warmth. The solar panels installed will be used to absorb solar energy in any climate, and the solar energy will be utilized for heating purposes. Solar energy is more commonly used as water heaters in the United States, and there are at least 1.5 million solar water heaters installed in homes and businesses. Although solar electric heaters for space heating are less common and less popular comparatively, the future of this type of appliance is promising, as nowadays, many will opt for the greener option.
Why should you choose a solar space heater?
First of all, if you use a solar space heater, you can maximise your energy savings. You can use it to heat the space that is most used, for example the living room or the bedroom. If necessary, you can also keep one solar space heater in each room. This saves more energy compared to central heating systems, as you can turn them on when you enter the room and off when you leave.
The price tag of a solar water heater can be quite heavy. However, on the long run, it can save you a large amount of money. Once you have installed it properly, you don’t need be burdened by any electricity bills anymore. With a couple of years, the electricity savings will cover your initial installation cost, and you can get to enjoy low cost heating, as you only have to pay for any maintenance after the initial payback. After all, solar energy comes without any cost. There is also no need to hook the heater into the electrical grid for use. That is why solar electric heaters are a great choice for heating of cabins and tents in remote areas.
Last but not least, the usages of solar electric heaters instead of those that plug into power outlets are better for our environment. Normal electricity comes from fuel that is non-renewable, which are also depleting at a high rate. Along the process of harvesting electrical energy from fuel, harmful gases will be emitted into the air as well, causing pollution which harms the Earth and its living things. On the other hand, energy from the sun is completely renewable, and rays from the sun that are non-polluting are utilized.
Hence, if you are planning to equip your new home with electric heaters, solar electric heaters are another option for you. With one, you can enjoy ample warmth, pay less, and protect the environment at the same time.
